2 men face felony charges for mugging in Stapleton say police
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Two men face felony charges after, police allege, they beat a man and took his wallet in Stapleton early Saturday morning.
The mugging took place in front of 77 Beach St., at 4:08 a.m., police allege. The suspects, Anthony Suazo, 20, whom police describe as homeless, and Benjiman Bermudez, 21, of Manhattan, punched the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground, then took his wallet, court papers allege.
Police found them a few minutes later, at the corner of Union Place and Beach Street. Police say Bermudez had blood on his right hand, and both men had blood on their sneakers.
Each is charged with second- and third-degree robbery, fourth-degree grand larceny, third-degree assault, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and unlawful possession of marijuana.
