West Brighton mom of missing boy is released from jail

Jennifer Rodriguez, 23, of West Brighton, is led out of Staten Island Family Court on Jan. 30.
BROOKLYN -- The West Brighton mother of a missing 7-year-old was released from jail today, five days after a judge threw her behind bars until her child turned up.

Judge Terrance McElrath granted Jennifer Rodriguez, 23, release from Rikers Island today during a hearing in Brooklyn Family Court on two conditions: She entirely cooperate with the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) and cops, and she use all of her resources to produce the boy by next Tuesday’s hearing.

Patrick Alford disappeared on Jan. 22 from the Brooklyn apartment where ACS had placed him with a foster family three weeks earlier.

A police search ensued, with boats deployed in the swamps near the home and helicopters scouring the area, but Patrick has yet to be found.

Ms. Rodriguez lost custody of Patrick when she was arrested on theft charges and ACS determined that she had neglected her son.

During an appearance at St. George Family Court last Tuesday, ACS officials and McElrath cited statements Ms. Rodriguez allegedly made to caseworkers and court officers, and insisted that she knows where her son is.
