Staten island Italians tight at the show mob wives haha (its just a fucking tv show)

MOBWIVES.jpgThe new VH1 show 'Mob Wives' features four Staten Island women at a crossroads, having to pick up the pieces and carry on while their husbands or fathers do time for alleged Mob-related activities. From left to right, Karen Gravano, Drita D'avanzo, Carla Facciolo and Renee Graziano.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Disgraceful.

Offensive.
Detrimental.
The show 'Mob Wives' has fired up Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro, who blasted the script -- or lack thereof -- of VH1's new reality series.
“I’ve seen it — It’s disgraceful,” Molinaro told the entertainment website Hollywoodlife.com. “It paints Staten Island and Italian-Americans in a bad light. It’s detrimental because people will think this is what Staten Island is made of. I’m Italian — and this is bad for our doctors, our lawyers, the people who came from Italy to build their lives.”
The cast features: Karen Gravano, daughter of Mafia turncoat Salvatore (Sammy the Bull) Gravano; Drita D’avanzo, whose husband Lee is in prison for bank robbery; Renee Graziano, daughter of Anthony Graziano, an alleged high-ranking member of La Cosa Nostra, and Carla Facciolo, whose husband Joey Ferragamo was convicted of stock fraud.

In the first episode that debuted Sunday, Ms. Gravano tells friends in Arizona that Staten Island "is a breeding ground for Mafia."
The show is taped at locations throughout the borough, and all four cast members are from the Staten Island.
“It’s beyond me that people would watch this garbage,” Molinaro said. “There’s no story or function. It’s just a bunch of people standing around cursing. It’s like watching a bunch of juveniles standing on a corner cursing. I could go to any rap song and get the same thing.”
Though he doesn't see the appeal in MTV's Jersey Shore, Molinaro said it's not as bad as 'Mob Wives.
“At least Jersey Shore is taking place in Jersey,” says Molinaro. “This is taking place in Staten Island. The whole idea of it I find offensive. Not only as an Italian, but as a Staten Islander, I’m offended. How can you be proud of this?” he asks. “If it was in the movies, I wouldn’t pay 25 cents to see it. It’s definitely not a true reflection of Italians or the true people that live on Staten Island that go to work each day and live here,” he adds.
The second episode airs Sunday. Do you plan to watch? Leave a comment and vote in our poll.
