STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A family of Tompkinsville toughs used knives, fists and feet to rob a livery driver early yesterday morning, police allege.
Cops say Santiago Zapoteco, 18, hired a taxi to drive him back to his Victory Boulevard home, and when the driver took him there, at about 2:52 a.m., he pulled out a knife.
Zapoteco was soon joined by four others — Noa and Marcelino Zapoteco, both 17, Moises Zapoteco, 27, and Franco Pedro, 25, police allege.
One of the others also held a knife, and the group all punched and kicked the driver and threw him to the ground, police said. Noa Zapoteco then took the driver’s cash and cell phone, police said.
Police arrested all five outside the Victory Boulevard address less than an hour later.
They face charges of first-, second- and third-degree robbery, third-degree assault and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, said William J. Smith, a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan.
