Mariners Harbor dad accused of hiding loaded gun in baby's playpen pleads guilty

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A reputed gang member from Mariners Harbor who stashed his loaded gun inside his baby’s playpen will be stashed away himself — for four years.
Milton Stilley, 25, pleaded guilty today in state Supreme Court, St. George, to second-degree criminal weapon possession stemming from the Feb. 2 incident inside his Lake Avenue home. It was the top count against him.
The .380 caliber handgun was in plain view in the playpen, and a 20-month-old girl was sitting on a bed about two feet away, said a law enforcement source. The gun was loaded with four bullets. Stilley’s seven-month-old son was in the room, in his mother’s arms.
Police also found another seven rounds of ammunition in a bedroom closet, authorities said.
Stilley, whom police identify as a Bloods member, was the target of a search warrant.
Under the agreement, Stilley will be sentenced on June 3 to four years behind bars, said a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan. He’ll also be subject to post-release supervision of between two and a half to five years.
Stilley’s lawyer, Mark J. Fonte, was on trial today on an unrelated case and could not immediately be reached for comment.
Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Fogel is prosecuting the case.
