Police searching for suspects on North Shore

Police rope off Van Duzer and Metcalfe streets in Stapleton. They are chasing two suspects through the community.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Police are chasing two suspects through streets and backyards on the North Shore.
The men, described as African-American males, ditched a blue Lexus, believed to be stolen, at Van Duzer and Metcalfe streets in Stapleton, according to radio transmissions.
The suspects crossed Van Duzer and fled toward Hillside Avenue into backyards.
The search initially began as a car chase on Cebra Avenue.
A large police presence is in the area and several helicopters are aiding in the search.
