STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- That’s a lot of nail polish.
Specifically, 143 bottles of the beauty product, valued at $1,256, is
what prosecutors allege a Rosebank man swiped Monday from a Meiers
Corners pharmacy.
Joseph Ballew, 22, of the 500 block of Tompkins Avenue, allegedly
told police he snatched the nail polish to make an illegal buck.
"I do admit to stealing. Every time I take nail polish, I go to a
nail salon on Port Richmond Avenue and sell it for $2 each," court
papers quote him as telling cops.
Those documents don’t identify the shop to which he allegedly sells the stolen goods.
Ballew was charged with felony grand larceny and stolen-property
possession, said a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan.
He’s also accused of misdemeanor counts of petit larceny and stolen-property possession.
