STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A Clifton man could face up to 25 years in
prison for attacking a man in Stapleton with a bottle and stealing cash
and a cell phone, prosecutors allege.
Arthur Snyder, 26, of
the 200 block of Park Hill Avenue, was among a group that assaulted the
victim on Dec. 14 inside a Targee Street building, said court papers.
Snyder knew the man, police said.
According
to court records, the suspects cracked the victim on the head with a
bottle, hit him with a pool stick and punched and kicked him. They
grabbed his wallet and $150, along with the man’s cell phone.
One
of the alleged attackers, Nathaniel Daa, was arrested less than an hour
after the 9:20 p.m. episode, court records show. He has been charged
with felony robbery, burglary and assault. The other suspects remain at
large.
Snyder was arrested yesterday.
He was charged
with felony counts of robbery, assault and stolen-property possession,
said a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan. He’s also accused
of misdemeanor criminal weapon possession.
Snyder could be
sentenced to between five and 25 years behind bars if convicted of
first-degree robbery, the top count against him.
