Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle Joint Tour Inspired By The Throne
By Nadeska Alexis (@neweryork)
Dave Chappelle fans have been waiting for years to hear some new material from the AWOL comedian and that day might be closer than ever…thanks to Jay-Z and Kanye West? Vulture caught up with Chris Rock—who gave a memorable performance on Ye’s album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy—at Sundance, where the funnyman confirmed that he’s still working on a joint tour with Chappelle, after being inspired by The Throne’s more-than-impressive run last year.
“I've been talking to Chappelle a lot. Been trying to get Chappelle to go on tour," Rock told Vulture, commenting on rumors that first popped up last fall. "You know I'm not the hard one," he continued, obviously referencing Chappelle’s decision to remain M.I.A. for the past few years. "But I'm trying to make that happen. After seeing Kanye and Jay-Z, I was like, 'Me and Dave should do this.'"
Fingers remained crossed for this one, and at the very least, we hope that Chappelle would be interested in accepting a position at Kanye West's new company DONDA. Sure, Ye only specified that he was looking for "a team of architects, graphic designers, directors, musicians, producers, AnRs, writers, publicist, social media experts..." but we're sure he meant to add comedians also.
