STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two more suspects have been charged in the alleged
assault of a Good Samaritan at a Stapleton social club last month.
Kelvin Smith, 28, and Frederick Doe, 17, both of Bowen Street, Clifton, were arrested Wednesday, police said.
A
law enforcement source said Smith, Doe and several other men barged
into the club on the 400 block of Targee Street at about 9:20 p.m. on
Dec. 14.
The group began arguing with the club owner. A patron,
who was playing pool, tried to intercede and was beaten for his efforts,
said the source.
According to court records, the suspects
cracked the victim on the head with a bottle, hit him with a pool cue
and punched and kicked him. They grabbed his wallet and $150, along with
the man’s cell phone.
Smith and Doe were charged with felony
counts of robbery, assault and stolen-property possession, said a
spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan. They’re also accused of
misdemeanor criminal weapon possession.
Two other men, Arthur
Snyder, 26, of Clifton, and Nathaniel Daa were previously charged in
connection with the incident. Their cases are pending. Other suspects
remain at large.
