STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A Port Richmond teen faces attempted murder charges for trying to settle two scores by shooting his adversaries, prosecutors allege.
Giovanni Donegan, 15, shot one victim in the face yesterday in Port Richmond, court papers said. The victim survived the attack, but remains hospitalized with a bullet lodged behind his eye, said a law enforcement source today.
The first victim was shot in the leg last month in Mariners Harbor and also survived, said court documents.
Donegan shot both victims after fighting with them, said the source.
The first shooting occurred Nov. 9 on Grandview Avenue and Arlington Place.
According to the source, the other youth beat up Donegan during a scuffle.
Donegan retrieved a gun from a nearby location and followed his adversary.
The suspect caught up to the youth and shot him in the thigh during the ensuing confrontation, the source said.
The source could not immediately say where Donegan had obtained the gun.
Yesterday's incident occurred on the 1600 block of Castleton Avenue near Treadwell Avenue. Donegan lives several blocks away on Hatfield Place.
The source said Donegan became embroiled in a dispute with several youths, who beat him.
Once again, he retrieved a gun and returned to confront his rivals.
Donegan fired several shots, hitting one youth in the face, said the source.
The suspect was arraigned today in Stapleton Criminal Court on two felony counts each of attempted murder and first-degree assault and four felony counts criminal weapon possession, said a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan.
Bail was set at $500,000.
Attempts today to obtain a telephone listing for Donegan’s home were unsuccessful, as were efforts to reach his lawyer.
