STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A raid yesterday at a West Brighton home netted a handgun, about 280 rounds of ammunition, other weapons and cocaine, prosecutors allege.
Charles Avarello, 52, was busted around 5:10 a.m. inside his residence on the 100 block of North Burgher Avenue.
Police seized a .40-caliber handgun loaded with 14 bullets, 264 additional .40-caliber rounds and four other bullets, court papers said. They also confiscated chukka sticks, three small bags of cocaine and two scales and empty plastic bags used in drug packaging, said court records.
Avarello was charged with misdemeanor counts of weapon possession, drug possession and criminally using drug paraphernalia. He’s also accused of unlawful ammunition possession.
