Staten Island FerrySTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Authorities investigating the connections and intentions of Times Square car bomb suspect Faisal Shahzad have reportedly found hand-drawn maps of the Staten Island Ferry, as well as the 4, 5 and 6 subway lines and the Bowling Green stop.
The map was found on a Metro North train bound for Connecticut sometime in the past several days, according to WABC-TV, and officials have reason to believe it was drawn by Shahzad himself.
Officials have tracked Shahzad based on evidence in the Pathfinder that was left, packed with explosives, in Times Square, according to the report.
It was revealed today that Pakistan intelligence officials say at least one man has been detained in the southern city of Karachi in connection with the Times Square bombing attempt.
The official said today the man was named Tauseef and was a friend of Shahzad.
Yesterday, Shahzad made a flight reservation on the way to John F. Kennedy International Airport and paid for his ticket in cash, U.S. government officials said.
Shahzad was aboard an Emirates flight bound for Dubai that had left the gate, but returned so that authorities could arrest him.
Shahzad became a naturalized U.S. citizen last year shortly before traveling to his native Pakistan, and the man is talking to investigators, federal law enforcement officials said today.
Faisal Shahzad was not known to the U.S. intelligence community before the failed bombing attempt in New York City and there was no derogatory information about him in terrorism-related government databases, says one of the officials, speaking on condition of anonymity amid the ongoing investigation.
President Barack Obama said today that the FBI is investigating Shahzad's possible ties to terrorist groups.
