STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A 29-year-old New Brighton man is accused of sexually abusing the pre-teen daughter of his girlfriend.
Police allege Foday Daramy, 29, had sex with the girl several times at his home on the 100 block of Benziger Avenue last year. She was 12 years old at the time.
At one point, he told the girl, "I know this is what you wanted," a law enforcement source said.
The alleged abuse happened between September and December of last year. Daramy has a child in common with the girl’s mother, authorities said.
The girl told her mother what had happened, then went to police, authorities said.
When investigators interviewed the girl, she was able to identify a distinguishing mark that wouldn’t typically be visible on Daramy’s body, the source said.
Detectives from the NYPD’s Staten Island Special Victims Squad arrested Daramy yesterday, charging him with first-degree sexual conduct against a child, first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child, according to William J. Smith, a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan.
The sexual conduct against a child charge carries the same penalty as first-degree rape — a maximum of 25 years in prison, if he’s convicted at trial.
